Periacetabular osteotomy

Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) involves a series of cuts in the pelvic bone to free up the acetabulum, or socket of the hip joint. Once free, it can be manoeuvred into a more suitable position and held in place with screws. It is a powerful procedure to correct abnormal hip biomechanics

Hip arthroscopy

Hip arthroscopy is usually a day surgery procedure, with most patients having their operation and going home on the same day. Only very rarely is an overnight stay required.

It is used for carefully selected patients with femoroacetabular impingement, labral pathology and mechanical hip symptoms, often as part of a wider hip preservation strategy.
