Mr Jonathan Hutt is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising exclusively in disorders of the hip. His practice combines a comprehensive hip preservation skillset including periacetabular osteotomy, femoral osteotomy and hip arthroscopy with modern hip replacement surgery
He treats patients with hip and groin pain, femoroacetabular impingement, hip dysplasia and hip arthritis. A significant part of his practice focuses on younger and active patients, including those considering either joint-preserving surgery or direct anterior approach hip replacement
Mr Hutt is trained in the comprehensive assessment of non-arthritic hip conditions and is one of only a few UK surgeons able to perform the full range of hip preservation techniques, encompassing periacetabular osteotomy (PAO), femoral osteotomy and hip arthroscopy
Hip preservation requires a complete understanding how hip anatomy and function including dysplasia, impingement, labral injury, cartilage change and patient goals interact. Mr Hutt offers a comprehensive skillset rather than a single-procedure approach
Mr Hutt is one of the UK’s most experienced direct anterior approach hip replacement surgeons. His joint replacement practice is particularly focused on younger, active and high-demand patients
Specialist assessment for hip instability and suitability for periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) and additional procedures.

Details on Surgical Procedures
Periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) involves a series of cuts in the pelvic bone to free up the acetabulum, or socket of the hip joint. Once free, it can be manoeuvred into a more suitable position and held in place with screws. It is a powerful procedure to correct abnormal hip biomechanics
Mr Hutt is one of the UK's most experienced PAO surgeons and can advise you of the suitability of the procedure in your individual situation.
Hip arthroscopy is usually a day surgery procedure, with most patients having their operation and going home on the same day. Only very rarely is an overnight stay required.
It is used for carefully selected patients with femoroacetabular impingement, labral pathology and mechanical hip symptoms, often as part of a wider hip preservation strategy.
Modern hip replacement surgery is a very effective procedure at relieving pain and restoring hip function and quality of life.
Mr Hutt is one of the UK’s most experienced direct anterior approach hip replacement surgeons. This is a key part of his joint replacement practice, particularly for younger, active patients or those seeking a modern, muscle-sparing approach to recovery.
